Oyala's first minimally invasive surgery

On 14 May 2026 Centro Médico La Paz Oyala performed its first minimally invasive surgery on a female patient diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes mellitus, Class II obesity, and multiple gallstones with a high risk of migration, which were incidentally discovered during a routine medical check-up.

As a result, a video laparoscopic cholecystectomy was indicated and successfully performed using state-of-the-art equipment. The gallbladder was removed through small incisions, minimizing hospital stay, postoperative pain, and the risk of infection in patients with these comorbidities.

Surgery has evolved from large incisions to minimally invasive procedures, achieving equal or even better outcomes when supported by advanced technology and by trained, experienced, and committed healthcare professionals dedicated to patient care.
